Santierul Naval Constanta Shipyard
Santierul Naval Constanta Shipyard is located in the Black Sea area and is one of the largest new-buildings and ship-repairs yards in Europe. The Shipyard has 2.800m berth for vessel's draft up to 8m and it is fully equipped with all necessary ship repairs facilities. Until 1950, the main activities of Santierul Naval Constanta were focused on ship repairs. However in May 1936, the very first new ship building project was launched, a 12m long yacht named "Crai Nou". From 1950, along with the ship repair activities, Santierul Naval Constanta has started a ship building program.
The political and economic changes which have occurred in Romania in the early '90s had an influence on SNC too. All the vessels built after 1990 have been delivered to foreign customers. Also, the market of large vessels has been gradually replaced by the market of specialized small sized vessels (container vessels, combined Ro-Ro, container vessels, liquefied gas carriers, platform supply vessel). From October 1st, 2002 Santierul Naval Constanta has been fully privatized acting in dry docks, ship repairs and new-buildings. With two dry docks, the Shipyard provides the ideal location for building and repairing of sea-going vessels up to 200.000 dwt.
Santierul Naval Constanta SA with the experience, professionalism and teamwork of its over 2,300 employees complying with the latest rules and regulations of the Classification Societies, is active in new-buildings ranging both in size – from 1.100 dwt Chemical Tanker to Aframax / Suezmax Tankers or Capesize Bulk Carriers - and from steel pontoons to LPG, Ammonia Carriers and Platform Supply Vessels. The surface has significantly increased, a new steel shop was built and other equipment / facilities (including a floating dock with a lifting capacity of 15.000 tons) had been added.
Santierul Naval Constanta Shipyard is a reliable supplier of large sea-going vessels (55.000 – 65.000 - 165.000 dwt bulk carriers/85.000 – 150.000 dwt crude oil tankers).
Shipyard's aim is to be flexible and answer the clients' wishes, by observing the quality, time and requested services. The annual average of vessels repaired in shipyard is in the range of 100 projects.
